The Editors of MIT's world renowned magazine 'Technology Review India have confirmed that the Abstract of all the six proposals & solutions, submitted by the Inter Disciplinary Think-Tank of LPU, have passed the preliminary round of short-listing. TRI had called upon the Technology Community in India to actively participate in the second edition of the Technology Review Grand Challenges (TRGC) programme and submit their innovative proposals/solutions to alleviate the problems of Indians in the relevant Ten Challenge areas notified by TRI. The Jury-Members of technologists, researchers, and technology promoters help select the best solutions.
In this regard, Dean of Faculty for Sciences and Technology, Dr LR Gupta had constituted an inter-disciplinary think-tank of faculty members and students to work for the same. Proposals with suggested solutions in the Challenge Areas of Energy and Environment (against the rising level of Pollution due to Vehicular Traffic, Fast vanishing Forests, Transmission and Distribution losses in any Power generation system) ; of Healthcare & Bio-medicine; Housing and Lighting have been forwarded.
On this present achievement, congratulating the innovative doers, who submitted the proposals, the Chancellor of the University, Mr Ashok Mittal exclaimed: "We are happy to note that our faculty and students are always determined to solve the problems being faced in general world across and in particular in the country." He further said: "This is also a healthy sign for the University that many would-be global leaders, in the arenas of science, technology, business, and the arts, are in the making, who someday will certainly solve the most obdurate problems world over."
It is illustrative that TRI is a well known International Forum, where solution/proposal if shortlisted and printed; it comes out as a matter of great pride for the University as well India. Since 1999, the editors of Technology Review have honoured more than 200 innovators, whose inventions and research are found most exciting, as these have the highest impact locally and globally. The innovators in India, whose work-spanning medicine, computing, communications, electronics, nanotechnology, and more--is changing the world, are highlighted. Moreover, its motive is to bring the technologists of the country onto a single common platform to architect solutions to solve complex problems in simple ways.
Going ahead for the final round of submission, all the six solutions explain that there is utmost need to conserve the Energy, howsoever minuscule quantity it may be! So, the Objective of the proposal is to construct a finger force nano-generator keyboard using the principle of piezoelectric effect. Hence there would be no requirement for UPS (additional resource) in home computers; For the rising level of vehicular pollution, solution is the manufacturing of LPG-driven domestic vehicles, so doing away with the dual-fuel system; for Fast vanishing Forests as raw material in Paper Industry, there is advanced solution involving the recycling of the waste paper at the site of production itself; For Housing and Lighting, SEES-11 (Smart Electrical Energy Saver device) is to be installed at each entry point of all rooms of the offices, which saves the precious Electrical Energy resource; and, for Healthcare and Bio-medicine, challenge to the technologists is to minimize the use of insertion techniques like angiography etc, by turning to the Human Saliva Secretome Analysis (HSSA) for its use as prognostic and diagnostic markers in diseases using a proteomics approach.
