Punjab Info-tech & Lovely Professional University Organized NASSCOM’s NAC Tech Sensitization Programme

NASSCOM’s NAC Tech Sensitization Programme was organized by Punjab Info-Tech and Lovely Professional University, jointly, at LPU. Serving as a watchdog to the endorsing prospective 32 companies, NASSCOM is determined to give a neutral third party assessment report to showcase about the students’ skill levels and hence help seek placement for them. This organization was to publicize NAC-Tech test with different Technical Colleges and Universities of the state, coming under the aegis of Department of Technical Education. 35 Training & Placement Officers, Deans, Senior Professors, Principals of colleges and Institutes of Technology, across Punjab, and all Teacher Placement Coordinators, Senior Lecturers, HOS, HODs, CODs from all B Tech/MCA Streams of LPU attended this endeavour. About one lakh candidates are expected to take the test in the next one year.

Elaborating the Programme, Ms. Avneet Bajaj, Sr. Manager Education Initiative, NASSCOM, said: “National Assessment of Competency- Technical (NAC/NAC-Tech) is a national-level unique skill assessment programme. It is for engineering students to benchmark entry level skills in the industry. It will evaluate candidates on their communication and analytical abilities as well as technical skills. The test has been developed in consultation with the IT industry experts. It has two parts. The mandatory Part ‘A’ tests verbal ability, analytical reasoning, learning ability, programming and written English skills; whereas, Part ‘B’ is optional and has tests depending on the specialization field of the candidate. As such, it will make easier for companies to screen candidates in accordance to their needs. She further said, “Moreover, it will also be beneficial for the companies in saving many lacs of rupees which these used to regularly spend on the tests and trainings for the new joinees. Now, the certificate issued by NASSCOM will serve as an authentic document in regard to the abilities of the candidates for the perusal of Industry/Departments. ”

On this occasion the Chancellor of the University, Mr Ashok Mittal said: “The channelized dissemination of IT knowledge can go a long way. The Indian IT Knowledge industry is growing tremendously and has given a great boost to the Indian Economy. And, our University is ever-ready to be a prominent part of all those efforts which play key role in establishing India’s leadership position globally. The present NAASCOM and Punjab Info-Tech Programme has enabled us to promote their designs so that Punjab may emerge as a premier state in providing well-versed manpower in the related field.”Other senior Delegates from NASSCOM & Punjab Info-tech prominently present were; Mr. Inder Kumar Sethi, Manager HRD, Punjab Info-Tech; and, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Jassi, Dy. Director, Punjab Technical Education.

One of the participants, Mr. NavDeepak Singh Sandhu, Placement Officer, Punjab Technical University JALANDHAR, said : “ This programme highlighted the need of such tests which are going to help greatly to both the students and the Industry. And, this assessment is aimed to assist educational institutions understand the potential of its students and ascertain the caliber of the students for employment by leading IT companies. This joint effort in this regard has been proved very fruitful.”
