LPU ranked as the 8th Best B-School of India in a survey conducted by ICMR

LPU has been ranked as the 8th Best B-school in the Upcoming B-School category in a survey conducted jointly by The Sunday Indian, The Human Factor and ICMR (Indian Council of Market Research). More than 400 institutes and Universities took part in the survey, and the focus of the ranking hinged upon placements record of the University/Institute. The final ranking was based on the Mean Compensation Packages offered to the passing out students. The panel which evaluated the B-schools on the basis of placements secured by them, had experts of the stature of V Balakrishnan (CFO, Infosys Tech), Girish G Vaidya (Director, Infosys Leadership Institute), Narsh Gupta (MD, Adobe India), Brian Tempest (Former CEO, Ranbaxy) and Dr. Sanjeev Sahni (Head, Strategic HR, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd.). In the overall ranking of B -Schools on basis of placements, (not confining to Upcoming B-Schools only), LPU was adjudged as the 36th Best B-School of India amongst 400 B Schools spread across the country.

Recently, LPU has shined brilliantly on the front of placements, with not only the number of visiting companies shooting through the roof, but also the pay packages offered to the selected students going northwards. Big names like Infosys, Bharti Airtel, Bharti Retail, Sharekhan, Nokia Siemens, Smart Chip-Online, Indian Army, Dell, Heromindmine, Keane, Spice, TATA, HCL, Eli Lilly, Omega Maritime Management Services Pvt. Ltd, Wipro, Wills Style Group, NIIT, Bharti Maxtel, Yo China are some of the companies that have visited the campus in the current academic session. Recruiters from finance and banking sectors have outnumbered recruiters from IT, Engineering or marketing companies. Statistics of on-campus placements at LPU in the last three years reveal that the companies that visited the university had more than doubled to 134 in 2008-2009 compared to 71 in the year-ago. The off-campus placements drives have also grown from 11 to 30 in the same period. Of the companies that visited LPU this year, more than 50 per cent were first timers. Equally encouraging is the repeat visits by most of the companies, which is a testimony to the fact that the students have proved their mettle in the job market. Many avenues have opened for the students with not only the corporate but the government sector is also eying the students. The Indian Army too recruited 31 students from the University campus.

Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Executive Dean-LPU said, It is quite satisfying to feature in the bracket of top 10 B-Schools of the country, on the basis of placements secured by students. Placements of students is a very high priority for us, and we have an exclusive team of experts dedicated to the cause of placing students of the campus. It is pleasant to see that we have scored heavily in an otherwise a dull year on the front of placements. Now, as the world leaps back from recession, we expect a heftier number of placements in the ensuing year. Apart from the placements, the University has also launched an ambitious project on entrepreneurship, wherein students are encouraged to start business ventures of their own. Students with business ideas are also guided by experts to script success stories from their ideas. The University also helps in partly funding the projects, conceptualized by students and employees of the University; if it is deemed feasible by team of entrepreneurship development experts.
