Lovely Professional University Student Received the Prestigious Queensland -India Friendship Scholarship


Under an initiative of the Queensland Government, Australia, one of the students of Lovely Professional University (LPU) has been awarded a Qld-India Friendship Scholarship. Manager, International Engagement CQU, Ms Janelle Allen has informed about the selection of Ms Kiranjit Kaur, a student of Bachelor of Business Administration ( Honours) Programme at LPU. The total value of the scholarship is AU$20,000/-. Under this scholarship, Ms Kiranjit will be studying in CQU for complete one semester free of cost. All of her expenses would be covered under the programme.

Congratulating Ms Kiranjit Kaur and welcoming the selection of LPU student by CQU, the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Ms Rashmi Mittal said: "This coveted award of scholarship will certainly give her, as well all other Indian students like her, a chance to expand their horizons by undertaking a semester of study in a foreign University and that, too, in the country like Australia." She added: "It is a matter of pride for us as such scholarships are awarded to high-performing Indian university students for accessing international education." She further informed: "In this context, the achievements made through our International Study Programmes and Students Exchange Programmes are Self- Explanatory. We solely want to shape and develop our students to get globally fit."

Earlier, while announcing Queensland - India Friendship Scholarships programme, Premier and Minister for the Arts, Anna Bligh has already held: "India is a very important educational partner for Queensland and the Queensland - India Friendship Scholarships will provide an opportunity to the Indian students a safe, quality study destination for Indian students in Australia. In collaboration with our State's nine universities, our government is providing funding for the selected students to come to Queensland to participate in study or in research for one semester in 2011."
 
It is worth illustration that this scholarship of AU$20,000/- will cover her entire Tuition fee, Accommodation and food( at Capricornia College) for her 5th semester at the Australian University and also her visa processing fees and to and fro flight charges. The remainder will be deposited into an Australian bank account in her name to be used to cover study and personal expenses. On contacting, Ms Kiranjit expressed her great emotions: "My joy knows no bounds on this attainment. I am lucky that my university has enabled me to achieve a very coveted chance."
