In the National Youth Festival jointly organised by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Ministry of Sports and Culture, Govt of India; Sakshi Mahajan, a BCA 6th Semester student of Lovely Professional University bagged the first prize in Western Vocal Solo event. The five day program titled Rajat Utsav was the 25th edition of the fest and was held at Rohtak.. The festival was inaugurated by Mr. Pranab Mukharjee, Finance Minister-Govt of India.
Sakshi competed with students from universities of 4 Zones, from all over the country and was awarded Gold Medal for securing First Position in Western Vocal Solo event. An estimated 900 participants from 63 universities participated in the Rajat Utsav. She represented the North Zone, after having secured the first position in the Intra-Zonal Festival held earlier at Kurukshetra
Attributing her success to hard work and dedication, Sakshi says, Success is appreciated by all, but very few try to understand the hard work that goes into writing a success story. I very religiously, devote 2 hours daily to my arts without a miss. If I skip my practice for once, it takes me five days of rigorous practice to regain my tempo. And its not just the hard work, but consistency also which holds the key to success.
Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, Executive Dean-LPU congratulated Sakshi on her feat and said, Our students have excelled as much in extra curricular activities, as in academics. Concerted efforts are being made to ensure that talents of students are brought forward and refined to their full potential. Through our various committees at departmental level, we are in the midst of massive drive to augment the extra curricular skills of the students. We are organising more talent oriented programs than ever with the motive that more students with hidden potential may be brought to light. With time, more Sakshis will emerge from our campus.
