PS Rathore,World Renowned Motivational Guru, gave a One-Day Workshop to MBA Students of Lovely Professional University

In order to boost up the intrinsic qualities of its students, Faculty of Business Administration of Lovely Professional University organized one day motivational workshop for its MBA Students. The world renowned motivational speaker and behavioural trainer, Mr. PS Rathore, who is known for his mesmerizing deliveries of lectures and who is also in the panel of fortune 500 companies, spell bound the students. He gave a continuous 8- hours of captivating lecture-‘Discover the Fire Within’. This topic, he claims, is used to unleash the power and confidence of the students. More than 500 MBA Students of the University participated in the event.

For this workshop, Mr. Rathore said: “I chose the topic and concentrated my lecture of finding the energy potential that we have within.” He further said that he had various topics to discuss during the talk including Leadership, Team Building, Motivation and Personal Effectiveness which has already helped many fortune 500 companies to increase productivity and performance of their employees. He was happy to note that the University students responded well to his talk.

On this organization, the Executive Dean of the University, Ms. Rashmi Mittal said; “In this era of continuous struggle and strife on every step, a scientific approach to remain motivated is very essential to understand and follow. It provides an effective way to build up a required confidence and self-esteem within. The present workshop is a right platform in regards to the same. It is up to the students to learn, grasp and value the concealed seriousness of the thoughts conveyed, in the simplest possible ways, for their betterment.”

It was mandatory for MBA 2nd as well for Final Year Students. On contacting Rehan Qadir, Priya Kapil, Narendra Keshari, Salma Bano and Ramanjot Grewal said: “ Through this workshop, we have learnt to be ‘confident for walk for life and burn all phobia and stress of life.’ It is really going to help us in our near future when we will have to face the competitions and struggles to exist in the world. We are indeed lucky to have availed this golden participation. In fact, we have become more confident to know that ‘the great secrets of success are hidden in our minds and bodies only.”

Lovely Professional University is on Special Drive to Train its Students on English Language

In order to make its students globally fit, Lovely Professional University is laying special emphasis on their all round personality development. The Department of English of the University has taken a unique step in this regard. As this year, it has decided to provide customized English to the individual student. To improve upon their Communication Skills, the first step taken by the department was the conduction of ‘The Diagnostic Test’ in English. This test was held on-line to identify and classify the levels of ability in English of its new students. Further, it has specially designed and developed books, as well as study material, to provide them high skills in English Language.

In order to make them understand the international language well, speak faster, more natural, with good pronunciation, they are grouped in three categories on the basis of the test. All the students were required to appear for the same. In the next step, the 1st year students (all programmes) are made to have the special Work-Books for the English Courses. It is worth illustration that the work-books are designed keeping in view the level of the students. It is mandatory for each student to have these work-books for their betterment.

In this regard, the Chancellor of the University, Mr. Ashok Mittal said: “In this competitive world better and effective Communication is the most important skill required to exist in success. To implement this, our University decided to create and come up with special books keeping in view the different levels of understanding of the various students. No doubt, there were a large number of books available in the market, but these were pulsed as not catering to the needs of the students. So, this special drive is to ensure maximum employability. In fact, Industry requirements are changing and we have to certainly cope with it.”

Representatives of University of Bradford UK Visited LPU for Possible Collaboration

Pulsing India rapidly gaining literacy movement on the latest trends and techniques; The representatives from the University of Bradford, one of the top 10 Universities of UK, visited Lovely Professional University to seek the possible collaboration opportunities. Leading the visiting team, Dr.Prashant Pillai met the Chancellor of the University to discuss various Academic Collaboration areas. In addition, they shared thoughts about Joint- Research Works, Faculty & Student Exchange-Programmes and other allied issues. He also presented a valuable ‘Research Talk’ on the topic “Personal Mobile Communication on Airplanes” to benefit the students of the University.

Making an elaborate introduction about the University of Bradford and the Bradford City, he said: “We have seen a great opportunity at LPU for the future collaborative programmes. The great strength of the students from 25 states of India & 15 other foreign countries has much to fulfil our task of preparing a large number of young men and women for the next generation. We are happy to have cordial talks with the authorities of LPU, in this regard.” He further told that with the slogan of “Making Knowledge Work”, Bradford is a modern and student oriented University. And, set amid the spectacular countryside, Bradford City is one of the most affordable places to live in Britain.

On this occasion, the Chancellor of the University, Mr Ashok Mittal said: “The Foreign Universities have once again started recognizing India as a great Centre of Learning and Research. That is why we are being constantly approached by a number of such universities for tie-ups regarding “twinning” and allied programmes of the University. We are already having tie-ups with more than 20 foreign universities of US, UK, Canada, Australia & Singapore including University of San-Francisco and others of immense repute. The present possible tie-up with University of Bradford, UK may add another golden chapter towards our strenuous efforts in regards to the development and progress of the students through International Exposure.”

Dr.Pillai is, currently, Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the School of Engineering, Design and Technology at the University of Bradford. His main areas of work are in Mobile/wireless networks like 2G/3G, WLAN Bluetooth and Satellite based networks. On the topic of the day, he presented that over the past decades wired and wireless networking has developed significantly People are increasingly adopting an “Always Connected” attitude. They expect to be in contact with work, friends and family at any time from any place. So there is an increasing demand for Internet access and telephony during flight. Wireless is the preferred access for business people on the move. Dr. Pillai explained thoroughly through System Requirements, System Scenarios, Business Model, System Architecture, Protocol Stacks, Signalling Flow examples, AAA Mechanisms, System Mobility, Security & Demonstrator Architecture that it is quite possible for Passengers to use their own Personal Devices (Phones/Laptops/PDAs) while on board.

Students of more than 20 Countries Represented Their Culture in Global Village Fair at Lovely Professional University

In an era of rapid globalization, a grand ‘Global Village’ Fair was organized at Lovely Professional University through AIESEC-a global students organization. Student-Representatives from more than 20 Countries including Switzerland, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Ivory-Coast, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, China etc. exhibited rich and varied Culture of their respective countries. They had formed their separate stalls to interact with the students from 25 states of India and 15 other countries of the university. They shared with them about the peculiarities of their culture, creed and civilization through different manners and methods.

Inaugurating the ‘Global Village’ the Chancellor of the University, Mr. Ashok Mittal said: “Through Global Exposure only we can produce human resource for the industry that has the capacity to interact and work in a global environment. Under the same vision LPU decided to host this mega event in the campus. In addition, our University also has tie-up with more than 20 foreign universities of US, UK, Canada & Australia to provide Indian students the opportunity to study and work on global land. More over, this image of a global university has also attracted more than 200 students from different parts of the world including Indonesia, US, UK, Nigeria, Tanzania and other 10 countries to the campus.” He further added, “We are very hopeful that such initiatives will help in making LPU as India’s first Global University.”

In this grand fair, through the stall of Switzerland it was well exhibited that Swiss people love basic food items including a huge selection of bread, dairy products, vegetables etc. Students explained about special bread ‘Zopf’ & “Birchermüesli"- an unprocessed food. Traditional Swiss Folklore Music ‘Alpsegen’& Yodelling was also shared with onlookers. The students of Poland let aware through the Opera Performances about the great culture of their country. At the stall of China, the rich Chinese culture was explained. A commonly practiced traditional Chinese form of exercise ‘Tai Chi’ - a combination of aerobic exercise, stretching, and stress relaxation, was liked by all. The Turkey Stall displayed art and craft through tiles, pottery, carpet, Jewellery, & that of Mauritius exhibited Sega Dance & Music of great comfort. Similarly, the students of rest of the participating countries displayed the best of their heritage.

Four of the students from the University Nishant, Dhruv Singla, Apurva Rawat, & Saloni from AIESEC say: “Providing a platform for youth leadership development, this Fair offered us all a great opportunity to be perfect global citizens. Interaction with a vast galaxy of foreign students has enabled us to learn different language skills, international work-experience and respect for cultural divergence. These are very essential for us to become globally fit as the world salutes those who have a diverse experience.”

LPU Provided Scholarship Benefit to more than 5000 Merit Student

Under a grand and promised endeavour, Lovely Professional University this year has provided financial support to more than 5000 deserving students through different Scholarships and Financial schemes. More than 12 Crores of Rupees are sanctioned to the students under this drive this year by the University. This Scheme has enabled students from across India and abroad to become part of the coveted University.

Talking to Media, the Chancellor of the University Mr. Ashok Mittal said, “ We have seen that India is a country where students have lot of talent and capabilities. But, many times lack of financial resources stop them to grow further in area of higher education. Understanding the same, LPU this year, which is also the year when the Lovely Group enters its 50th year of founding, has decided to provide scholarships to such students. Under the schemes it was decided to provide the benefit to large number of meritorious students by providing the scholarship up-to Rs. 1 Lakh per year per student, depending upon the qualifying examination and programme they choose. We also realized that the bright students who are not able to perform well in their qualifying examination because of certain general reasons must also be benefited. For them we have conducted a special online test TFA (Test for Financial Aid) in 25 cities. Four months down the time, I am happy to share the success of the scheme as more than 5000 students have been benefited through it across India.” He further informed, “ More than 150 students with 90% or above marks, 25% of the total meritorious students having 80% or above(less than 90%) and still 60% of the total such other students getting 70% or more(less than80%) are granted scholarships in accordance to their level of scoring, and 850 students have got benefitted through TFA.”

The parents, from North East, of a ‘Fresh’ student Ruchi who has recently got admission in the Programme B Tech of the University said: “Due to certain unavoidable circumstances, she could not perform very well in her last school examination. She was very up-set and frustrated on not going to get admission in the University of her dreams due to financial constraints. When she heard about the TFA, she got elated, prepared well for the exams and made it an unforgettable success to get admission, here, at LPU.”

Prominent Entertainer Raju Shrivastva titled the New-Students to the Core at Lovely Professional University

In order to get the New – Entrants well acquainted & accustomed to different systems of the University, the management of the Lovely Professional University organized under grand celebrations a week- Long colourful & Informative Induction Programme. The last phase of this continuous programme was handed over to the ‘King of Comedy’ and famous Bolly-Wood as well as TV Star, Raju Shrivastva, who performed at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Square located near LIT Engineering Block of the University to entertain and greet the ‘fresh’ students amid fun and laughter. He titillated the whole audience through his special mimicry, antics, histrionics, mono- and dialogues of varied laughing-stuff.

The most popular Indian Comedian created laughter by his acute perception and comical timing taking various Indian aspects of life. He won over the hearts of the students, their parents, guests and members of the staff through a very special style of his own. He was liked and applauded by all. Taking examples from his early struggle-full life, he also delivered a great message of being always cheerful under all circumstances to win and cross over the unwanted hurdles in one’s life. In fact, being a good mimic, Raju nursed the dream of becoming a comedian since childhood. In his school time he used to imitate his teachers and Amitabh Bachchan.

Two of the students Sonaxi and Surbhi Gupta said: “ We and our parents are really thankful to the conceivers and designers of this specially formulated Induction Programme through which we gathered all about the university and city, its functioning related to us. As newcomers, We have also got a special ‘Guide Hand-Book’ which has complete information about the university rules and regulations and other important information and contact numbers for future reference. Once we were scared to join a professional Institution as we used to regularly hear the said tales of ragging, callous attitude of the senior students and indifference of other members. But, the altogether different and homely atmosphere at the university, all full of warmth and welcome through a carnival by old students, the management and teachers, has really elated us to have joined it.”

On this occasion, the Chancellor of the University Shri Ashok Mittal said: “ All the students are welcomed to start afresh their new professional life to come up to the expectations of all those who regularly care for them. They have many duties of utter responsibilities towards their nation, parents and alma mater in the forthcoming years. Life is not easy as it seems. It is full of challenges, competitions, struggles etc. One may not know how many moments of sadness and allied emotional ups and downs must the today’s king of comedy and other successful persons have faced to acquire present status. WE must all make us so strong through our learning from others that nothing negative should stand in our straight way.”

Induction Programme organised for New Students at LPU

To acquaint the new students with the various processes being used, Lovely Professional University is organizing an induction programme from the 2nd to 9th August. The week long programme will ensure that the students who are new to the University can get information about various areas like academics, examination, safety and security within the campus, University Management System (UMS), placements and various amenities provided by the University etc. It will also give them a glimpse of the campus life.

Mrs Rashmi Mittal, Executive Dean, Lovely Professional University, the brain behind student welfare activities said “All the announcements are made on the University’s website/ UMS. The students are given assignments online and they have to submit them online too. The purpose of this programme is to make students familiar so that they feel at home.” Since the University is very technologically advanced and most of the work is done online, the Induction Programme shall ensure that the students get accustomed to the softwares being used. “This will aid students in fitting in the University as early as possible,” she added.

Apart from this, a carnival will also be organized by the old students with in the campus, where the students shall be able to participate. These will include various fun games, management games, cultural shows, exhibitions etc to facilitate the fresh joiners gel with their peers and teachers. This year large number of students from 28 states of India and more than 150 students from various parts of the world have joined the University . The programmes shall also help them understand the culture of different states in India. The entire induction programme has been created as a platform for new students to enhance their confidence and get attuned to the new environment. The University is looking forward to making a combination of fun, frolic and learning with the intention to make the new comers comfortable and zealous about this new beginning of life.
